changes in the wind

I have strong feelings of changes coming on, Jo and I, making new plans for our business, a new direction or enforcing original plans. John and I looking at new ventures in our journey. We have been married 43 years, sounds like a long time but there is comfort in the continuity of a long relationship, he is my best friend (not counting sisters) and knows me well, we where soul mates from the moment we met, not that we recognised it back then, I just felt he was my other half, I always sensed when he was near. I have been lucky but I was also brought up with strong sense of loyalties and would fight to the death should someone or something threaten my loved ones this includes friends. I also have very strong feelings that there are changes in values of the community, moves back to basics such as cooking, sewing, knitting and making things for one self perhaps this move may relate to so many products now being manufactured out of our country, a feeling of ownership to what we buy. I know I look for Australian made, handmade, fresh produce and so on. Even to growing my own vegetables.

I have taken a few photo's from around the shop to share with you as I haven't any of what we have been doing lately.

Vintage pale blue bathroom cupboards, 2 outside ones have frosted glass and the middle one a lovely aged mirror, the rail below comes in handy for hanging Cavallini sheets of paper.Old suitcase painted white, great for displaying painted canvas's for sale, also handy for taking and display of goods at the markets and fairs.

Lovely artist mask bought in Venice, does make one smile.

Painting I did for Jo this morning, she has been through a lot lately so thought I would make her this to cheer her up and let her know how much I love her. Damn these golden paints dry quickly here in WA not much working time. I learnt a lot from Misty Mawn at the Art Journey retreat last year and I really love her techniques, I have seen a lot of other artists doing faces but my favourite is Misty's quirky faces, looks a bit like Jo don't you think.

fairy lights

Just want to share with you these fairy lights I made recently, I think they look very vintage and will do a fun class for them later in the year for anyone interested. The rose at the neck is made of crepe paper that I dipped in tea. I would like to make the next one using that technique and perhaps not make the flowers so full, what do you think?

New beginnings

Well here I am again, Joanne has been on an interesting journey, cosmetic dental journey. Joanne grinds her teeth while asleep causing her teeth to fracture, now, none of the dentists she had been seeing made her aware of this, just charging exorbitant fees to do repairs, of course these where not long lasting due to the constant grinding.

A visit to a cosmetic dentist offering repayment plans, made her aware of her problem and around 4 or 5 months later she is now the proud owner of beautiful veneers. This has opened a whole new world for Joanne as she was very aware of her deteriorating teeth she avoided smiling and talking too close to people she didn't know. Now she has this radiant smile and keeps flashing her new teeth unafraid to look into your eyes when speaking together, they where very expensive but oh so worth it. Now she will wear a mouth guard to bed at night to protect her teeth.

Now thats a sunshine smile wouldn't you agree!
